The CMKE website has been inaccessible from the OAKE website since their upgrade. Cindy will try to contact them to have the link added back in.
The 2009-10 events calendar is online at cmke.net. MMEA will be January 27th - 30th.
We will send a report but no delegates to the MKMEA Conference this year.
MMEA – we will have CMKE dinner on Thursday night, hopefully at Baxter’s again, with an Executive Board Meeting. Barb will contact Kathy Appleton whether we need to help financially with clinicians this year.
We will not host a February workshop this year. We will have a barbecue and officer installation on the Thursday of the second week of levels this summer (2010).
Children’s Choir Festival - C-MENC will do lunch again. A tentative date of April 17th was chosen. Suggestions for clinicians included Tom Michalek, Mary Goetze, Ruth Dwyer, Eugene Rogers (Chicago), Sandy Knudson, and Cari McCartey. The possibility of having the clinician do a session for directors on Friday night along the choral festival on Saturday was suggested.
UCM – The orchestra will be hosting a children’s concert on Sunday, February 14th at 2 p.m. and on the 15th during the school day. The cost will be $2.00 per student, Pre-K through 4th. The theme is “Music and Sports.”

Respectfully submitted,

Central Missouri Kodály Educators – Executive Board Meeting Minutes 5-27-2009
The meeting was called to order at 4:15 p.m. Barb Sanders, Robin Currence, and Cindy Calafaty were present.
Minutes from the General Meeting on April 18th were read, corrections made, and approved.
Treasurer’s report was read and approved. As of May 27th CMKE total assests are $3410.01.
In answer to the request for more lead time on workshops, the board members present discussed the possibility of sending postcards with minimal info and posting the main info on the website to save mailing costs. In reference to a request to add a page to the website for best practice ideas, it was noted that such a page already exists and has been for over a year, waiting for responses from members.
Children’s Choir Festival has been turned over from Angela Keirsey to Lisa Hern. We have income numbers from the deposit and expense receipts, but would like to know how many children were there. Lisa needs some help with the Choir Festival.
Concerning the summer levels at UCM, Barb agreed to hostess on the 12th for the opening welcome. Executive Board will meet for lunch at Heroes on July 23rd to choose scholarship recipients. Robin and Cindy agreed to plan and host a barbecue on the 23rd to give out scholarships. They will meet with Jennifer Z. to plan the details and choose a site. The possibility of offering a make & take in conjunction was discussed.
The suggestion was made that a reunion social/barbecue might be held next summer, the second week of August, for the induction of new officers. Members will be asked if there is sufficient interest.
The 2009-10 Calendar includes Jo Kirk for September 12th or 26th – still optional – or possibly for spring.
October is the MKMEA Conference
January is MMEA
April is the Children’s Choir Festival
National certification of the levels was not announced at the OAKE National conference this year.
The next Communiqué will include a mini-survey with the answers to be posted on the website, www.cmke.net.
No concrete decisions could be made due to a lack of quorum.
Meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Cindy Calafaty, Secretary
Addendum July 2009: The levels will not meet this year due to under-enrollment. Related activities are cancelled. Next Executive Board meeting TBA.
