Lullabies to Circle Games
Music in Early Childhood – Birth to 9 Years
The workshop will focus on the creation of a Kodály-based early childhood music and movement environment which stimulates the child’s innate musical abilities as well as fosters cognitive, social, language, creative, and motor development. Participants will actively explore songs, rhymes, singing games, finger plays, bounces, tickles, and a multitude of other musical activities that provide a variety of developmentally appropriate musical experiences for the young child. Current research dealing with learning theory, brain development, early vocal productions and song acquisition will be discussed. Participants will develop musical and pedagogical competencies to awaken and enrich the child’s lifelong interest and JOY for music and learning.
